Growth is a struggle, a journey made of adversities. That's what brings a child towards adulthood: the perception that there is a larger world beyond the "small world" of his childhood, where he's safe and protected. Eventually, a child must learn to face those challenges in order to become aware of the vast world around him, and he will leave the small world of his childhood behind.
